Verizon Enterprise Solutions has confirmed they were the victim of a data breach last week.
Verizon's Business to Business division of the telecommunications company, which has responded to some of the largest data breaches in the world, recently announced they discovered the security flaw that allowed the hacker to steal the contact information of 1.5 million Verizon Enterprise customers.
The customer contact information was listed for sale on an underground cybercrime forum. The asking price for all of the breached information was $100,000, but the seller also offered packages of 100,000 records for $10,000. Information about the security vulnerabilities on Verizon’s website was also for sale. Verizon has not yet released details on how the breach occurred, but it has started notifying affected customers.
Thinking about what type of information that this hacker may have had access to, or what their agenda could have been with this information can be scary.
